ANTARCTIC METEORITE LOCATION AND MAPPING PROJECT (AMLAMP)
EXPLANATORY TEXT

SW Pecora Icefields

The SW Pecora Icefields are located along a series of low ice escarpments running from approximately 12 to 48 kilometers southwest Pecora Escarpment proper (TIL-PAT-Figure 1 (28 KB JPEG) (MODIS image courtesy of Ted Scambos, National Snow and Ice Data Center). Three distinct, seizable bare ice areas are defined, along with other small patches in the area.

The 2002-2003 ANSMET field party, supported by Twin Otter, spent three days conducting reconnaissance and systematic searches of these icefields. Only one meteorite specimen was discovered. The reconnaissance effort determined that no meteorite concentration exists at the site.

Below is the listing of the meteorite recovered from the SW Pecora Icefields.
