Different minerals in the meteorite will melt in different ways, and if the meteorite is weathered at all on the ice surface, the fusion crust may break apart differently as well. In this beautiful specimen, deep green olivines are seen through windows in the fusion crust as a result of the ease with which olivine weathers.
