If the approaching cloud is dense enough and parks itself right on top of camp, it can produce near or total whiteout conditions. You find yourself completely surrounded by a light grey universe; anything of a different color stands out in sharp relief. There are no shadows at all, either, making it very difficult to walk around even in camp; you keep tripping over every little pile of snow. Skidooing is impossible, since you can't see the crevasses or steep dropoffs. However, you can see even tiny meteorites from hundreds of meters away.
