When we return to McMurdo it is late summer, the ice has gone out on the Ross Sea, and it seems like an oasis of vibrant life compared to the polar plateau. Looking down as the airplane approaches McMurdo you may even scare the willies out of some Adelies, while an Emperor calmly tries to assuage their panic.
