Unfortunately, its not always that easy. Most of the areas ANSMET goes to are near the Transantarctic Mountains, since it is those mountains which block the flow of ice to the sea and create the meteorite stranding surfaces. As a result, many of these areas have some density of wind-blown rock across their surface, and if that rock is black in color, finding the meteorites can be difficult.
