It can get much worse, too. Sometimes the meteorites are mixed into glacial moraines. When that happens, the snowmobiles get left behind, and we search on foot. It's a lot warmer, because you stay active, but unless your finding lots of them it can get tedious very fast. Although it is difficult and time consuming to find meteorites mixed in among thousands of garden-variety earth rocks, a number of very important meteorites have been found this way, including lunar and martian specimens.
