EXPLANATORY TEXT

Cranfield Peak Icefield

This bare ice area is situated along the eastern margin of the Marsh Glacier below the Cranfield Peak massif, about 20 kilometers north-northeast of the Main Sandford Cliffs Icefield. The 1:250000 scale U.S.G.S. Mount Rabot quadrangle covers the area (CRA78-Figure 1 - 62 KB JPEG).

During the 2003-2004 season an ANSMET field party conducted a reconnaissance survey of the Cranfield Peak icefield. Only one meteorite specimen was discovered. CRA78-Figure 2 (41 KB JPEG) is a portion of an ASTER satellite image of the Cranfield Peak icefield with the location of the one CRA specimen indicated.

The listing below, gives the data on the meteorite recovered from the Cranfield Peak Icefield.
